Young People
One of the main aims of the Government’s Drug Strategy is ‘to prevent today’s young people from becoming tomorrow’s problem drug users’. In addition, ‘encouraging young people to choose not to take illegal drugs’ is a key part of the Every Child Matters: Change for Children strategy.
County Durham DAAT works closely with partners in order to achieve these outcomes for children and young people. Developing services to prevent the harm caused by drug and alcohol use and ensure all children and young people have the opportunity to reach their full potential, particularly those most vulnerable and at risk.
The County Durham DAAT has recently commissioned a brand new service for young people in County Durham suffering from Drug and Alcohol misuse. The 4Real service as it is now known works with children up to the age of 19 and provides them with the help, advice and support that they need.
